PatchSiren cyber security CVE debrief
CVE-2026-91057 Eclipse Foundation CVE debrief
CVE-2026-91057 is a MEDIUM-severity vulnerability in Eclipse ThreadX - GUIX, a multi-line text view display component. An out-of-bounds read occurs when a string ends with a carriage return, potentially causing an index to advance past the end of the string, leading to a second over-read. This issue affects versions up to 6.5.1.202602a and is fixed in version 6.5.2.202603.

Who should care
Defenders responsible for systems using Eclipse ThreadX - GUIX, especially those with multi-line text view displays, should assess exposure and prioritize verification and remediation efforts.
Why it matters
CVE-2026-91057 is a MEDIUM-severity vulnerability in Eclipse ThreadX - GUIX that can cause out-of-bounds reads and potential abnormal behavior in multi-line text view displays. Defenders should prioritize verifying and upgrading affected systems, especially those using GUIX. The vulnerability affects versions up to 6.5.1.202602a and is fixed in version 6.5.2.202603. Additional information on potential exploitation or victim organizations is not available.
- Potential for abnormal behavior or crashes in GUIX applications
- Need for verification of affected systems and versions
- Possible data inconsistencies or display issues in multi-line text views
- Priority for upgrading to fixed version 6.5.2.202603
Technical summary
The `_gx_multi_line_text_view_display_info_get()` function reads one byte past the end of the application's text buffer when the string it is given ends with a carriage return (`<br>`). This over-read can also cause callers to advance their index past the end of the string, producing a second over-read in `_gx_multi_line_text_view_string_total_rows_compute()` and a row of text that is not in the source.
Defensive priority
Defenders should prioritize verifying and upgrading affected systems, especially those using GUIX for multi-line text views.
Recommended defensive actions
- Verify and upgrade affected GUIX systems to version 6.5.2.202603 or later
- Review and update inventory of systems using GUIX for multi-line text views
- Monitor for potential abnormal behavior in GUIX applications
- Check relevant monitoring, detection, and logs for exposed assets that need extra review
- Track exceptions, retest remediated assets, and close the item only after evidence is documented.
- Confirm whether affected product deployments exist in managed environments and assign an owner for follow-up.
- Review the supplied official advisory or CVE record to validate affected scope, severity, and vendor guidance.
